Deleting your data

Three routes, depending on how much you want removed. All of them are free, and none of them require you to give a reason.

Last updated

1. Disconnect one social media account

This revokes Bark's access to a single connected account and removes the data gathered from it, while leaving the rest of your Bark account intact.

  1. Sign in to Bark and open the brand the account is connected to.
  2. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  3. Find the connected account and choose Disconnect.

The stored access token is destroyed immediately, and no further API calls are made on that account. Comments, messages, and engagement figures previously retrieved from it are deleted within 30 days.

Removing Bark from Instagram or Facebook directly

You can also revoke access from Meta's side, which stops access just as effectively:

  • Instagram: Profile → Settings and privacy → Website permissions → Apps and websites → remove Bark.
  • Facebook: Settings and privacy → Settings → Apps and websites → remove Bark.

Doing it this way leaves the copy Bark already holds in place. To have that removed as well, disconnect within Bark or email us as described below.

2. Delete your entire Bark account

  1. Sign in and go to Settings → Account.
  2. Choose Delete account and confirm.

If you own an organisation with other members, you will be asked to transfer ownership or delete the organisation first, so that colleagues do not lose access without warning.

3. Ask us to delete it

If you cannot sign in, or you want data deleted that is not attached to an account you control, write to privacy@barkpublish.com from the address on the account, or tell us the connected account's username. We confirm receipt within 5 working days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

This is also the route for someone who is not a Bark customer — for example, if you commented on a post published through Bark and want the copy of that comment removed from our records.

What gets deleted, and when

DataTiming
Platform access and refresh tokensImmediately on disconnect or account deletion
Posts, campaigns, boards, and brand settingsWithin 30 days
Uploaded assets and their generated variantsWithin 30 days
Comments, messages, and engagement retrieved from connected platformsWithin 30 days
Account profile, name, email, and avatarWithin 30 days
Encrypted backups containing any of the aboveWithin 90 days, as backups age out
Invoices and payment recordsRetained ten years, as Swiss accounting law requires; kept separately and not used for anything else
Operational logsPurged on the normal 30-day cycle

Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Content you already published to a social media platform stays on that platform — Bark cannot remove it for you, and you should delete it there directly.

Getting a copy first

You can ask for a portable copy of your data before deleting it. Write to privacy@barkpublish.com and we will send a machine-readable export within 30 days. Your rights are set out in full in the Privacy Policy.
